Cody Sun joins Clutch Gaming’s Academy team for 2019

Cody Sun joins Clutch Gaming’s Academy team for 2019

Cody Sun has joined Clutch Gaming‘s Academy team for the 2019 season. The team announced the news on Twitter, ending the player’s free agency.

As such, Cody Sun has survived a treacherous offseason after his departure from 100 Thieves. The arrival of Bae “Bang” Jun-sik marked the end of his tenure within the team, and the start of his free agency. However, not a single team lined up to add him as a starter despite solid play. In fact, OpTic Gaming opted to rehire Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon instead.

Cody Sun’s saga started following William “Meteos” Hartman’s departure in the 2018 LCS summer split. Following that event, he frequently clashed with the coaching staff. The matter led to his suspension in the summer playoff semifinals and to his benching throughout the World Championship.

Cody Sun joins a rebuilding Clutch Gaming squad following a disastrous 2018 LCS summer split. Clutch’s reshuffle and Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin’s promotion to the starting lineup left a vacancy in the academy. As such, the surprisingly unclaimed bot laner will see competitive play in the academy. Beyond that, he serves as an insurance policy should Piglet’s performance level prove insufficient.
