Origen sign Kold, mithy and Guilhoto for the 2019 LEC
Jonas “Kold” Andersen, Alfonso “mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez and André “Guilhoto” Guilhoto have joined Origen’s 2019 LEC lineup. In the process, they united with Barney “Alphari” Morris, Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm and Patrik “Sheriff” Jiru.
Although the moves are pending Riot Games’ approval, one could consider them done deals. The moves also propel Origen near the top of the standings with a balanced roster across the board. In fact, it would be extremely surprising if they did not feature at the top of the table. With four experienced players and an up-and-coming bot laner, the lineup could remind many of Origen’s legendary 2015 roster. That lineup, which also featured mithy, included Zven, then an unproved talent at the pro level, and reached the World Championship semifinals.
Origen’s lineup features one of the strongest coaching staff duos in the LEC, as Guilhoto (and Broich) earned Coach of the Split honors in the 2018 summer split. At the time, they coached FC Schalke 04 Esports to the EU LCS finals in their first playoff appearance. In the process, they helped S04 recover from missing the playoffs in the spring split.
Overall, the lineup is one of the most stacked ones in the LEC. Kold was one of the most coveted junglers in free agency as his leadership and mechanical abilities grew in the otherwise underperforming Unicorns of Love. In addition, he can rely on mithy’s leadership in the bot lane, facilitating macro moves across the map.
