Mowgli set to join Team Vitality for 2019
Team Vitality have acquired Lee “Mowgli” Jae-ha according to ESPN Esports’ Jacob Wolf. The signing further cements Team Vitality into the thick of LEC contention.
According to the report, Afreeca Freecs and Team Vitality are on the verge of finalizing the transfer. With this move, the LEC squad replaces the departed Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek, who helped them reach the 2018 World Championship.
Team Vitality endeared themselves to the worldwide audience when their no holds barred approach to the game caught Gen.G and Royal Never Give Up off guard in Group B. Furthermore, their play inspired Cloud9 in their playoff run, where they beat Mowgli’s Afreeca Freecs.
The team had ample opportunities to scout the player throughout 2018. After all, Vitality boot camped with Afreeca Freecs before the 2018 LCS summer split and witnessed the Korean 10-man roster in action. In addition, Mowgli played at Worlds on Afreeca Freecs as a substitute, and his performance as a sub helped Afreeca reach the playoffs.
Mowgli’s contract runs through 2019, making the signing a fairly low-risk one. That is especially true since he can also speak English at a level that would enable communication in the LCS. During 2018, the playmaking jungler was a core member of AFS as he shared playing time with Lee “Spirit” Da-yoon. He also grew close to Team Vitality during the World championship.
Update: Nov. 28 @ 15:10 — Mowgli has announced on Twitter that he has joined Team Vitality.
