Origen sign Alphari, Nukeduck and Sheriff

Origen sign Alphari, Nukeduck and Sheriff

Origen have wasted no time in free agency as they have signed Barney “Alphari” Morris, Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm and Patrik “Sheriff” Jiru to their LEC lineup. The move first appeared on the League of Legends Esports Contract Database.

NameContract expiration datePrevious team

Erlend "Nukeduck" HolmNov. 16, 2021Schalke 04
Patrik "Sheriff" JiruNov. 19, 2019H2K

The signings send massive shockwaves in Europe as they disrupt Misfits Gaming and FC Schalke 04 Esports. Alphari played his entire professional career on Misfits, and his departure marks the end of an era for that team. In the meantime, Nukeduck made a significant impact on Schalke 04 in 2018 and experienced a resurgence in the process. Both are among the best in their positions.

Origen have also acquired the rights to Sheriff, who was H2K Gaming’s brightest spot in 2018. The AD carry willed H2K to the 2018 spring playoffs, but was unable to prevent their fall in the summer split. H2K had signed him under contract until Nov. 19, 2019, but the contract was up for grabs following their exit from the LCS.

General Manager Martin “Deficio” Lynge made his intent known through these moves: Origen are to contend for the top spot in the LEC. However, in order to become front runners, they need two communicators (one in-game leader) to fill the jungle and support positions. Jonas “Kold” Andersen would be the strongest hire in this case from free agency, freeing the team to pick a facilitator in the bot lane. Should that be the case, Raymond “KaSing” Tsang would be a strong candidate as well.

Origen recently changed ownership as RFRSH Entertainment acquired them following their LEC franchising application. Later on, RFRSH’s success allowed them to use the Origen brand for the League of Legends activities. The team then announced its entry in the league on Nov. 20 on Twitter.

Update: Dec. 3 @ 14:50 CET — Origen have also signed assistant coach Fabian Broich as their assistant coach. The assistant coach, who was part of FC Schalke 04 Esports‘ coaching staff, confirmed the lineup on his Twitter account. The matter gives further credence to André “Guilhoto” Guilhoto’s arrival as Origen’s head coach.
