Echo Fox reunite with Fenix, sign Rush for 2019
Echo Fox have announced on Dec. 1 that they have signed mid laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hun and jungler Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae for 2019. In doing so, they have finalized their offseason moves for the LCS squad.
Fenix’s return is a fairly odd event considering the circumstances that led him to an extremely early free agency. Indeed, Echo Fox had dropped him on Jul. 24, six hours before the trade deadline for the summer split, and he was unable to find a team in time. The mid laner was impactful during his tenure, helping the team reach the third-place matchup during the spring split. However, his absence (and Johnny “Altec” Ru’s) brought instability to the lineup, and Echo Fox fell out of the Regional Gauntlet in a 3-0 against Team SoloMid.
On the other hand, Rush’s signing brings a popular face in the North American circuit. Rush had built a following as a member of Team Impulse (2015) and Cloud9 (2016). However, he endured a long drought of opportunities before signing for KT Rolster as a substitute in 2018. The return of the bilingual former Lee Sin main brings playmaking on a lineup that desperately needed it.
Speaking of the lineup, it is as follows:
Dardoch’s status within the team is up in the air following Rush’s signing, but he may still have a home within the LCS. According to ESPN’s Tyler “Fionn” Erzberger, a Team SoloMid sighting would not be unlikely. It would go well with his drive to win, which he could satisfy there in due time.
